On 9th November 2016, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has inaugurated the second phase of the Dubai Water Canal Project. A number of senior officials, senior business leaders and other dignitaries attended the launch ceremony held in a peninsula, near the Jumeirah Beach Park. Mr. Yu Tao, President and CEO, Mr. Dong Wei, Vice President and Project leaders of CSCEC Middle East (L.L.C) were invited to attend this ceremony.
The Dubai Water Canal Project – Phase 2 commenced from 4th May 2014, having a total contract value in the sum of 105 Million US Dollars with 30 months period. The works for this project include two large-scale cross-canal urban overpasses, reconstruction of new and existing road worth 20 km, two pedestrian bridges, two elevators and reinforced earth retaining wall, parking lots, traffic lights, street lamps, drainage system for rain water and water supply, etc. As the canal will add six kilometers to Dubai’s waterfront, this essentially means there will be more spaces for recreational facilities, such as shopping mall, hotels, approximately 400 restaurants, luxury housings, walkways and cycling paths. It will therefore become a prominent urban & tourist landmark which has the capability to raise the profile of Dubai as a spectacular tourist attraction expected to attract more than 30 million visitors per annum.
The Dubai Water Canal Project – Phase 2 is one of the critical portions for the Dubai Water Canal Project as a whole. In this regard, the successful completion of the Project achieved a high appreciation and compliments from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and our client (RTA). This highlights the efficacy and productiveness of CSCEC ME in its performance in construction. The successful completion of Dubai Water Canal Package 2 lays the solid foundation for our corporation to undertake more high-end projects and this in turn will further expand the market for the civil and infrastructure works in the UAE.
